MILO IN2CRICKETThe MILO in2CRICKET program is a fun, introductory cricket program for girls and boys aged 5 - 10 years. The pro gram runs for 12 weeks at cricket clubs and some schools throughout Victoria during each cricket season. SCHOOLS - PRIMARYThe MILO The Cricket Victoria Kanga 8s competition is for girls in grades 5 and 6. Schools enter a team for free in the regional carnivals and the winning team from the regional carnivals go on to play in the State Final played at the MCG. Regional Carnivals are usually held in mid-late November with the State Finals in December. For this seasons carnivals click onto the "Milo Cricket" menu link of this website. Schools should contact Cricket Victoria or the Regional Cricket Manager for more information. VPSSA Trials The Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association (VPSSA) trials require girls to be nominated by their school and/or club to attend a trial in the Central Highlands region. The trial session is the first phase of the process that will allow the VPSSA to select a team of 13 players who will represent Victoria at the National Championships. Those who are eligble of selection is dependent on which year the children are born. CRICHIT Cricket Victoria, in conjunction with the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association, is offering Victorian Primary Schools an opportunity to participate in an exciting girls’ cricket program – “Cric Hit for Schools”. This new program is also being supported by Cricket Australia. “Cric Hit for Schools” is a statewide girls’ cricket program to be conducted in Term 3. The program would run for six weeks for each of the 80 participating schools. Each participating girl is to be provided with a ‘CricHit’ giveaway pack (contents to be determined) and a certificate. Each participating lead teacher will be provided with a shirt & cap to identify them as the group leader.
Cricket Victoria is very excited about this new program and in partnering with the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association to increase the opportunities for primary school girls to participate in cricket. SCHOOLS - SECONDARYThere are a number of school cricket competitions for girls teams in secondary schools throughout Victoria. The Cri cket Victoria Super 8s Competition is offered at two levels - Years 7/8 and Years 9/10. The rules are slightly changed at Years 9/10 to reflect the higher age group. Super 8s cricket is free for schools to enter and is aimed at fun and participation, with everyone getting a chance to bat and bowl. Ask your school sports coordinator to see if your school has a team or to encourage your school to enter a team. The VSSSA has girls cricket competitions at the junior (Years 7/8), intermediate (Years 9/10) and senior (Years 11/12) levels for state secondary schools. Encourage your school to get involved by getting a team together of girls that want to play cricket. U14, U16 & U18 GIRLS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPSThe Under 14 Commonwealth Bank State Championships were introduced to build a pathway for Victoria's up-and-coming female talent. The tournament is the first step in the Victorian Cricket Pathway and becomes the main selection tool for the Victorian Victorian U15 Representative Team.
Trials are conducted for each team, including the Central Highlands U14 team usually commencing around Oc tober/November. The 2008/09 U14 State Championships will be held from 7-9 January, 2009. The Under 16 Commonwealth Bank State Championships have been formed to provide an opportunity for the best U16 females cricketers in Victoria to display their talents and to assist in the selection process for the Victorian U17 Representative Team.
Trials are conducted for each team, again including the Central Highlands U16 team usually commencing in October/November. In 2007/08 Central Highlands won the U16 Commonwealth Bank State Championships for the first time. The 2008/09 U16 State Championships will be held from 7-9 January, 2009. For the second year the Central Highlands will be forming a stand alone U18 team who will compete for the 2008/09 U18 State Championships which will be held from 15 - 17 December 2008.
