The Commonwealth Bank Cricket Pathway provides talented players with the opportunity to develop their cricket skills and progress through to higher levels of competition.
The Commonwealth Bank Cricket Pathway has three competition phases:
- Under 14 Commonwealth Bank State Championships (played in January, boys play on Premier 3rd & 4th XI grounds in Melbourne)
- Under 16 Commonwealth Bank Dowling Shield (played in January, boys play on Premier 1st & 2nd XI grounds in Melbourne)
- Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Cup (played in January on Premier grounds in Melbourne and in a Country region)
There are five state representative components of the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Pathway:
- Under 13 (Controlled by the VPSSA with assistance from Cricket Victoria)
- Under 15 (Controlled by the VSSSA with assistance from Cricket Victoria)
- Under 17 (National Championships in January) - Controlled by Cricket Victoria
- Under 19 (National Championships in December) - Controlled by Cricket Victoria
- Victorian Bushrangers (Shieffield Shield, Ford Ranger Cup and KFC Twenty 20 Big Bash)
As illustrated above, the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Pathway (CBCP) competitions (eg. U14 CBSC, U16 CBDS, U18 CBC) underpin all underage Victorian teams and ultimately the Victorian Bushrangers.
At the completion of each competition well performed players will be nominated for a series of training sessions that will be used as the platform for selection in initial Victorian squads for the following season. Players selected in these squads will participate in state development programs throughout the off-season.
Supporting this structure is the Central Highlands Region’s junior inter-association competitions (eg. U13 Junior Country Week, U15 Junior Country Week, U17 Kirton Shield). The alignment of these competitions to the CBCP in 2005/06 has resulted in a clear pathway for talented junior players in the region and provides Associations with a genuine role in the development of these players.
MaleUnder 14 Commonwealth Bank State Championships Under 16 Commonwealth Bank Dowling Shield Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Cup FemaleUnder 14 Commonwealth Bank State Championships Under 16 Commonwealth Bank State Championships Under 18 Commonwealth Bank State Championships 13 players are selected to represent the region in the Commonwealth Bank State Championships. Two emergencies will also be named.
If players miss out on this selection on a Pathways team, this does not discount them in future years. Players are encouraged to continue to work hard on their game. In the past two seasons the U18 Central Highlanders Male team has included two players each year who had not been involved in the Pathways Program at any stage prior to their selection in the Under 18’s.
For those players who do miss the final squad selection we strongly encourage players to trial for their Association representative team with Junior Country Week or Kirton Shield as performances at this level will be used for the selection of next seasons Central Highlands squads.
Selectors will continue to monitor your performances in club/representative matches and players are strongly encouraged to attend trials for future Central Highlands squads. Central Highlands Infoline 1902 262 019 (4-digit code 1043) |
